Frequently Asked Questions
How do I add movies or TV shows to my watchlist?
Browse or search for any movie or TV show, then tap on it to view details. On the details page, tap the bookmark icon to add it to your watchlist.
How do I mark something as watched?
Open the details page for any movie or TV show and tap the checkmark icon. This will mark it as watched and remove it from your watchlist automatically.
How does the For You feed work?
The For You feed provides personalized recommendations based on your favorites. Add movies and TV shows to your favorites, and WatchBase will suggest similar content you might enjoy.
Can I hide watched items from my recommendations?
Yes! Go to Settings and enable "Hide Watched in For You Feed" to filter out content you've already seen from your recommendations.
Is my data synced across devices?
Currently, all data is stored locally on your device. Your favorites, watchlist, and viewing history are private and stay on your device only.
What happens if I delete the app?
If you delete WatchBase, all your data (favorites, watchlist, watched history) will be removed from your device. We recommend exporting your data before uninstalling if you plan to reinstall later.
Where does WatchBase get its movie and TV show data?
WatchBase uses The Movie Database (TMDB) API to provide comprehensive information about movies and TV shows, including ratings, descriptions, cast, and images.
Does WatchBase track my viewing habits?
No. WatchBase is completely privacy-first. We don't collect, store, or transmit any of your personal data or viewing habits. Everything stays on your device. See our Privacy Policy for details.
Can I change the language or region?
Yes! Go to Settings to customize your language and region preferences. This will affect the content and recommendations you see.
How do I report a bug or request a feature?

Troubleshooting
App is running slowly
Try these steps:
- Close and reopen the app
- Restart your device
- Ensure you have the latest version of WatchBase installed
- Check your internet connection (required for fetching movie/TV data)
Images not loading
If movie posters or images aren't loading:
- Check your internet connection
- Try switching between WiFi and cellular data
- Clear the app cache by closing and reopening
Search not working
If search isn't returning results:
- Verify you have an active internet connection
- Try different search terms or spellings
- Check that you're searching in the correct tab (Movies, TV Shows, or All)
App crashes or freezes
If you're experiencing crashes:
- Update to the latest version of WatchBase
- Restart your device
- Ensure your iOS is up to date
